The Annette’s Women Group was founded in Bang’a and currently consists of 18 women from different socio-economic backgrounds. All these women are entrepreneurs or are in the process of becoming so by setting up their own businesses. They help each other by exchanging knowledge and experience and by providing microcredit. The women are an example of successful women’s emancipation for the entire region.

The Annette’s Women Group had asked the Saidia Kwale Foundation for financial and organizational cooperation. The group had some resources but at the same time the number of people who was relying on their charity is increasing. Many of the women have a family in addition to their company and the women’s group.

The board of the Annette’s Women Group asked the Saidia Kwale Foundation for support in increasing pot for microcredits. In response, we have made about €3000 available. This will enable Annette’s Women Group to provide more microcredits to the group members and thus boost the local economy.

Spring 2024 update: Annette’s Women Group chicken project

The Saidia Kwale Foundation has helped the group realise a major project to raise and fatten (weekly 300 to 600) broiler chickens. The group, after various setbacks in the start-up phase, has caught on. We have helped improve the slaughter site, the automatic drinking system and external expertise has been hired on a temporary basis. Marketing does not seem to be a problem at all.

The group has started repaying the loan to our foundation and distributing income to all members.

This completes the project.
