Highlights were:
- the visit I made with a major sponsor and other interested parties to the primary school in Bang’a and the girls’ dormitory that we realized there; for the first time this year, no more school drop-out due to teenage pregnancies;
- the dispensary; it is now in full use, daily the waiting area is full;
- our fruitful conversation with the new governor of Kwale; a good relationship with the government is necessary to make our projects a success.
But also ideas emerged for new projects, such as:
- the approach to primary education around Kasemeni; the so-called feederschools (outbuildings) are in deplorable condition and the large walking distance from home – school causes significant school drop-out;
- significant scaling up of a chicken project in Bang’a, so that at least 10 families can earn a living from it.
Here you’ll find an extensive trip report.
